Under Proposition 65, businesses must provide a warning for products containing listed chemicals starting one year after the listing date, which in this case is December 29, 2024. To ensure compliance, Monaco Industries will begin adding Proposition 65 warning labels to all thermal receipt paper products, regardless of shipping destination by labeling in advance. We aim to provide ample time to comply with the new regulations. We also recommend that customers manage their existing inventory by rotating non-compliant products and implementing an audit process for all shipments sent to California.
Please note that Monaco Industries will not offer indemnity for Proposition 65 non-compliance. We strongly advise all customers to understand any additional compliance actions that may be required on their end. In particular, customers using BPS-containing thermal papers may need to provide warnings to consumers at the point of purchase.
For customers looking to avoid compliance issues, Monaco Industries offers a range of phenol-free receipt paper options that use alternative color developers not affected by this legislation. Bond and carbonless receipt products, which do not contain color developers, will not require warning labels to comply with Proposition 65.
